We are proud to announce that Alpha IT S.A. has been granted a Patent by the Industrial Property Organization (OBI.gr) for our innovative method:
“Method for managing, preprocessing, and analyzing Raman spectra from a portable spectrometer using machine learning algorithms for intraoperative evaluation of neoplasms in human tissues.”
Developed within the framework of the BIOFASMA project, this groundbreaking technology enables the electronic transfer, storage, and processing of Raman spectra through an AI system installed on an cloud server.
The server runs algorithms and models that facilitate machine learning, allowing for the transmission and reception of data and measurements requiring immediate prediction or diagnosis. When spectra are available—either postoperatively or directly during surgery—the system can receive the data, process it, update the database, and, utilizing AI algorithms and models, provide accurate and immediate information on the status of detected neoplasms.
The method was applied with high accuracy (over 85% and continuously improving) in reliably predicting healthy and cancerous tissues of the colon. Biological samples were obtained from the Medical Schools of the University of Athens and the Democritus University of Thrace, and Raman experiments were conducted at the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences of the National Technical University of Athens.
This achievement marks a significant step forward in enhancing medical technology and providing advanced solutions in the healthcare sector.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our dedicated team and look forward to continuing to deliver innovative solutions that make a difference.
